Change in Speakers at the CCGS meeting

For those planning on going to Wednesday night's meeting to hear Kathleen Kent, author of The Heretic's Daughter, speak, I've received the following e-mail:

The presentation for this Wednesday’s CCGS meeting is changing.  Instead of the history of early New England, we will learn more about the early history of Plano! Many of us are transplants to this area just might get an insight into today's Plano based on its history.
Our scheduled speaker for May, Kathleen Kent, had an accident and sustained some rather serious injuries. Instead of speaking to us on Wednesday, she will be in surgery.  Even while in the midst of this, she asked about re-scheduling for when she is well again. So stay tuned.  Our best wishes and prayers go out to her as she recovers.
Cheryl Smith has graciously and on very short notice agreed to speak to us on "Plano: the First One Hundred Years". As a librarian at the Plano Public Library System for the past fourteen years, she has researched local history as well as fielding genealogy questions, most lately at the Genealogy, Local History, and Texana Archives (GLHTA) at Haggard Library. She has been involved in genealogy for 16 years and has taught numerous classes on genealogy at the library as well as speaking to CCGS last year on how to begin locating our immigrant ancestors. Cheryl has attended genealogical conferences and taken courses at the Institute of Genealogical and Historical Research at Samford University in Alabama. She helped create the Genealogy Round Table at the Texas Library Association and has been a speaker at it conferences.
Come learn about the early history of Plano!
Wednesday, May 9, 7 p.m.

See you there!

We, too, wish Ms. Kent a speedy recovery.
