Thursday, February 12 6:45 p.m. at the Roy and Helen Hall Memorial Library 101 East Hunt Street, McKinney: Movie Night! The North Collin County Genealogical Society is happy to present the award winning movie "ALL FOR LIBERTY" a movie set in 1775. Patriot Henry Felder, a Swiss-German colonist, is living with his family in the British Colony of South Carolina. After many years of struggling with corrupt British rulers, Felder is urged by the new patriot governor to write Articles of Separation from the English King. Felder's comrade, Bill Jenkins forms a Tory militia to assist the Crown as the fight heats up. Felder raises his own militia, including a woman tavern owner who gathers a patriot spy ring. In the ensuing stuggles Felder and his family discover the cost of freedom.
This promises to be very entertaining for us all and quite informative for those of us who might be researching ancestors from this time and location. This program is FREE and open to all.
Monday, March 23 1:00 p.m. at the Allen Senior Recreation Center 451 St. Mary Drive, Allen: The Allen Seniors Genealogy Club will host Lisa Louise Cooke. Ms. Cooke will present "How to Reopen and Work a Genealogical Cold Case". All are welcome. You do not have to be a member of the ASRC to attend this meeting. There is a $5.00 fee to help defray the costs of Ms. Cooke's expenses.
